Actor Akkineni Naga Chaitanya has secured legal protection for his personality rights from the Delhi High Court, following in the footsteps of his father, Akkineni Nagarjuna. The court issued interim orders in his favor and directed authorities to ensure protection against unauthorized use of his identity.

Court Directs Protection Against Digital Misuse

The bench headed by Justice Jyoti Singh heard the case and issued notices to the concerned digital platforms and other respondents involved in the matter.

Senior advocate Vaibhav Gaggar informed the court that Naga Chaitanya’s name, photographs, and identity were being misused on obscene websites and several digital platforms without his consent. The petition also highlighted the illegal sale of unauthorized merchandise featuring the actor’s likeness, along with the rampant circulation of AI-generated content using his image online.

The Delhi High Court strongly reacted to posts and online content that allegedly harmed Naga Chaitanya’s personal life and reputation. Taking the matter seriously, the court directed that the actor’s name, voice, and photographs should not be used without his permission and granted him appropriate interim protection.

Part of Growing Industry Trend

Naga Chaitanya joins several Telugu and South Indian stars who have sought similar legal protection in recent months. Allu Arjun received a legal shield from the Delhi High Court in April against deepfakes and unauthorized use, while NTR secured personality rights protection in January.

The surge in such cases reflects growing concerns about AI-generated content, deepfakes, and unauthorized commercial exploitation of celebrity identities in the digital era. Personality rights protect individuals from unauthorized commercial use of their name, image, voice, and other identifying characteristics.
